NDRRMC: Death toll from 'Pedring,' 'Quiel' now 95


The death toll from typhoons Pedring (Nesat) and Quiel (Nalgae) rose to 95 as of Saturday morning, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC also said 27 bridge and road sections in some areas remain impassable, including seven in Cagayan Valley; 11 in Central Luzon, and nine in Cordillera. Estimated damage to property has also breached the P13-billion mark, it added. The NDRRMC identified the most recent fatalities due to Pedring as:

    - Linda Humiding, 45, Hingyon, Ifugao (landslide) - Maribel Pugong, 1 year, 9 months, Hingyon, Ifugao (landslide)
At least 73 were reported injured and 24 still missing due to Pedring, the NDRRMC said. On the other hand, the most recent fatalities due to Quiel included:
    - Alfredo Arnada, Mariveles, Bataan (drowning) - Roberto Montoya, 71, Sta. Ana, Bataan (drowning) - Venancio Yambao, 60, Minalin, Pampanga (electrocuted)
At least 12 were injured and 10 missing due to Quiel, the NDRRMC added. The NDRRMC said Pedring affected 643,154 families or 2,989,419 people in 3,464 villages in 310 towns and 42 cities in 35 provinces. Some 18,845 families or 81,041 people are still being served in 128 evacuation centers. Also, it said Quiel afected 219,645 families or 1,085,857 people in 1,719 villages in 133 towns and 10 cities in 17 provinces. Of these, 6,304 families or 27,886 people are being served in 207 evacuation centers. Damage to property The estimated damage to property from Pedring was at P13,800,739,509.57, including P1,966,256,882.81 in infrastructure and P11,834,482,626.76 in agriculture. Some 7,034 houses were destroyed while 45,203 were damaged. Estimated damage to property from Quiel remained at P115,075,527.81.
