Senate commends Shamcey Supsup

The Senate on Monday commended Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup for finishing third runner-up in the Miss Universe 2011 pageant held last September in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Senate unanimously adopted Resolution 599 seeking to commend Supsup for "honoring the country, its tradition and culture, before the whole world with her show of beauty and intelligence at the 60th Miss Universe beauty pageant." The resolution was authored by Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, who, like Supsup, is from Mindanao. "What she accomplished is really a national achievement," Pimentel said during his sponsorship speech. Supsup graduated magna cum Laude from the University of the Philippines and topped the 2010 Philippine Architectural Board Examinations. — Kimberly Jane Tan/KBK, GMA News
