PAL service provider tying up with HK firm on personnel training
One of Philippine Airlinesâ (PAL) service providers is tying up with a Hong Kong-based firm to train its staff at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 and the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Top executives of Jardine Airport Services Limited, a Hong Kong-based service provider, flew to Manila over the weekend to assess the situation at the PAL hub, said Sky Logistics Philippines president Rory Jon Sepulveda. Following this, Jardine is expected to come up with proposals for Sky Logistics to improve its service based on Jardineâs experience in Hong Kong, Sepulveda noted. Sky Logistics is PALâs new service provider, and Jardine handles airport services at Hong Kongâs Cheng Lap Kok International Airport. Jardine managing director Enoch Lam, along with two of his key lieutenants, toured PALâs NAIA-2 hub with the Sky Logistics team, Sepulveda said. âThey observed ramp operations, cargo and passenger handling and took note of how these can be improved based on their experience at HKIA," he added. Sky Logistics is trying to reach an agreement for Jardine to send a team of training professionals to train Sky Logistics people. âAs of now, we need the help of a committed technical and professional company to assist our company get over the hump during this transition period," Sepulveda explained. He said Jardine played a key role in transforming the Hong Kong airport into one of the worldâs best, based on Skytraxâs March 2011 survey of 11 million travelers. The 13-year old Hong Kong airport was also recognized as the worldâs busiest airport in terms of cargo traffic last year. â PE/VS, GMA News
