Pinoy netizens react to Think Before You Click campaign

Think Before You Click (TBYC), GMA 7's award-winning campaign for the responsible use of social media, gathers more support Monday after the documentary of the same title was aired on GMA News TV on Sunday. The documentary featuring Howie Severino, Kara David, Mark Salazar, Iza Calzado and Elmo Magalona reminded viewers that there are consequences for every action they make online. Guests also shared stories in the documentary on how they have appropriated the Internet for different purposes: fight for a cause, find jobs, travel the world, and even fall in love. The award-winning TBYC advocacy was launched in July to promote social media awareness among Pinoy netizens. It encourages netizens to stop and think twice before posting content online — whether an opinion, a photo or a video.

The power Internet users get from social media was once unthinkable. Now, it only takes a single click to broadcast anything under the sun to the rest of the world. In a virtual reality where a netizen can choose to be faceless and anonymous, we are free to assume any identity — in other words, bahala ka sa buhay mo. For every thought brewing in your mind, for every photo you want to share, stop and think first before you click. — AM Marzoña/VS, GMA News
