MILF relays hope for peace to Brunei Armed Forces chief


The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) expressed its hopes of peace in Mindanao to the Armed Forces chief of Brunei during his recent visit to the Philippines. According to a news release of the MILF on Monday, the MILF relayed the message to Royal Brunei Armed Forces commander Maj. Gen. Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan Bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin. Aminuddin and MILF Chairman Al-Haj Murad met at the MILF’s Camp Darapanan in Maguindanao on October 8, the MILF said. “We are confident that Brother Aminuddin can significantly help in strengthening the commitment and assistance of the Royal Government of Brunei in the search for peace in Mindanao and in the Bangsamoro Homeland," Murad said. Aminuddin, on the other hand, said the Brunei government is strongly committed to support the peace process between the government and MILF. He said the cooperation of Brunei had expanded by sending more officers assigned with the IMT to help establish conducive atmosphere for the attainment of peace and prosperity in Mindanao. “I am very honored and humbled of the warm welcome of the MILF. I apologize that my visit is of a short period but I assure you that during my next visit I will have more time here with you," he said. The MILF said the meeting between Aminuddin and Murad was part of the Brunei official’s visit to the Philippines and his first as RBAF commander. Those who joined Murad at the meeting were:
