Basilan gov's brother, sister-in-law shot dead

The brother and sister-in-law of Basilan Governor Jum Akbar were shot dead Monday night by still unidentified motorcycle-riding men, a Mindanao-based police official said Tuesday. Engineer Basser Jainuddin and wife Amina, a barangay chairwoman, were on their way home when the suspects shot them in front of Basilan State College in Sumagdang village in Isabela City, Basilan at 7:05 p.m., according to Chief Superintendent Elpidio de Asis, Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Police Office director. “Basser died on the spot after incurring several gun shot wounds. His wife was rushed to Infante Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival," De Asis said. Investigators found seven empty shells at the crime scene.
