Apple to honor Jobs in private event Oct. 19

Apple Inc. will honor its late co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs in a private ceremony on October 19, a tech site reported late Tuesday (Manila time). Mashable reported the event is open only to Apple employees, and will be held at Apple's outdoor amphitheater in Cupertino, California. "Although many of our hearts are still heavy, we are planning a celebration of his life for Apple employees to take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place," Cook said in an email to employees, according to Mashable. Jobs died last week after a battle with cancer. His death sparked an outpouring of grief from around the world. The former Apple leader was branded a visionary and credited with hit products such as the Macintosh computer, iPod, iPhone, and iPad. In his email, Cook said he had experienced "the saddest days of my lifetime and shed many tears during the past week." “But I’ve found some comfort in the extraordinary number of tributes and condolences from people all over the world who were touched by Steve and his genius," he added. — ELR, GMA News
