Twitter's links-shortener to undergo some changes, Mashable says

Micro-blogging site Twitter will soon start reformatting all links posted to its links-shortening service with t.co, regardless of length, a tech site reported late Tuesday. This was a departure from past policy where only links that 20 characters or longer would be reformatted with t.co, tech site Mashable reported. "This same process will now apply to shorter links as well," Mashable said. Twitter uses T.co as an official URL shortener to prevent malware and phishing attacks. But unlike other URL shorteners, Twitter displays the domain name in full so users will know what they are clicking on. Mashable said existing URL shorteners such as bit.ly will continue to function as normal, although fewer characters will be displayed. — ELR, GMA News
