PNoy stingy with details on charges vs Arroyo

President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday remained stingy with the details of the charges his administration will file against former President and incumbent Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is linked to several anomalies during her nine-year rule. “I don’t think it is prudent on our part to reveal any details as to which charges," Aquino told members of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines at a forum in Makati City. “I think it will make our lives that much more difficult in securing witnesses, in preparing for the case if we are going to reveal too many details." He reiterated that by November this year charges will be filed against Mrs Arroyo, who is also linked to the alleged cheating in the 2004 and 2007 elections. Aquino first mentioned about the charges during his talk with reporters who covered his visit to Japan last month. “With regards to filing charges, the best information or the latest information that I have is by November we will be filing charges. As to going into the details, it’s still being finalized as to which specification, which alleged crime was committed, etcetera, will be the first on the block," Aquino said. The Arroyo camp has repeatedly belied the accusations being leveled against Mrs. Arroyo. PNoy warning Also on Wednesday, Aquino warned that if any of his officials will be caught receiving money, that official will not only get a sermon but will also be charged before the court. “If I got information that somebody received anything and I have enough evidence then that person would not have gotten a sermon, he would be facing charges. And I think that is very, very clear to everybody that I have appointed that they [serve me]," he said. He added that when he loses his trust in a person, “which means I have suspicions but perhaps there was not enough evidence to warrant the filing of charges, that person is no longer part of our administration." Aquino said that officials who think of receiving money should just quit their post. “The minute you even contemplate it, you better resign rather than succumb to temptation which you will be penalized for," he said. — KBK, GMA News
