MILF condoles with CPP on Ka Roger's death

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front has condoled with the Communist Party of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDF) for the death of former communist spokesman Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal. MILF secretariat spokesman Muhammad Ameen described Rosal as a true patriot and revolutionary who sought to liberate Filipinos from oppression and exploitation. "Hailed by his comrades as 'a courageous fighter, militant defender of the people, respected comrade and good friend,' Rosal is now considered a hero and ranked alongside other heroes of the Philippine revolution who will forever inspire the Filipino people in their struggle for national and social liberation," the MILF said in an article posted on its website. Rosal died June 22 but the CPP-NDF belatedly announced it only last weekend. For its part, the CPP said it expects many to join the October 15 tribute. "There has been overwhelming response from people expressing admiration for Ka Roger’s life of sacrifice and service to the people. Many have been inspired to take on the path of revolutionary struggle to achieve the aspirations for national and social liberation which Ka Roger humbly dedicated his life to," it claimed. It said the activities on Saturday will coincide with a gun salute by the New People’s Army (NPA) to be carried out at noon to pay tribute to Rosal. — RSJ, GMA News
