Cavite police: 3 suspected hijackers die in shootout

At least three suspected hijackers were killed in an encounter with police in Cavite province before dawn Friday. Superintendent Romeo Valero of the provincial police intelligence unit said they cornered the suspects at Manggahan village in General Trias town. "Itong mga suspected hijackers inagaw itong 10-wheeler na may dalang product na more or less P2 million," Valero said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said witnesses who saw the taking of the truck informed police, who set up a dragnet. None of the police personnel in the shootout was injured, he said. "Nang ma-corner sa area na ito nagkaroon ng palitan ng putok kaya natamaan ang tatlo sa mga suspects," he said. Valero said the other suspects forced the hijacked truck's driver and his helper into a vehicle and dropped them off somewhere in General Trias.
