PNP chief vows no special treatment for Llamas

The Philippine National Police on Friday reassured the public there will be no whitewash or special treatment for a presidential adviser whose aides were caught carrying an assault rifle registered in his name. PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome said all findings in the investigation involving presidential political adviser Ronald Llamas will be based on evidence. "Sa atin meron tayong pinagbabasehan lagi. Kung tayo ay magfa-file ng kaso naka-anchor ito palagi sa legal document. At parehas kami kung mag-file kahit kanino, pareho ang panuntunan dito," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. On Thursday, the PNP revoked the license of the controversial AK-47 assault rifle owned by Llamas, as the firearm is a subject of an ongoing investigation. While Llamas was out of the country, his aides were caught last week carrying the assault rifle registered in his name. Llamas admitted he owned the gun, claiming there were threats to his life. He also sacked bodyguards Joey Tecson and John Alarcon. The two were instructed to use the vehicle to go to Llamas' house and secure it during his absence, but the vehicle figured in a road accident. According to the Office of the Political Adviser, the firearm seen in the video footage taken at the accident scene was registered and covered by a valid license. — LBG, GMA News
