PNP arrests supposed real estate broker who failed to remit payments

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested in Rodriguez, Rizal, a woman who has been accused of not remitting payments for real estate transactions she made with her clients. Agents of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group apprehended the suspect, Cynthia Mallari in an entrapment operation in the outlets of a food chain, after they received several complaints—including one from the suspect’s friend, Jasmin Rivera. Mallari is accused of not remitting close to P1 million, including payments from a group of overseas Filipino workers. Upon her arrest, which was caught in “24 Oras," Mallari could not present any proof that she is a licensed or certified real estate broker.
Mallari has promised to settle the amount that she owes Rivera, but police said the suspect still has to face the complaints filed against her. CIDG-DSOD chief Sr. Supt. Albert Ferro said people interested to invest in real estate should head to the main offices of real estate firms. “Ang importante po sa mga ganitong operasyon, lalo na po realty ang pag-uusapan, tayo po ay mas maiging pumupunta sa main offices concerned… du’n po tayo makipag-transaksyon, hindi po ‘yung sa individuals," he told GMA News reporter Emil Sumanguil. — RAJMD/ELR, GMA News
