Siri allows unauthorized access on iPhone 4s

While it promises to be a great help to users, Siri —Apple's new voice-activated personal assistant— can also inadvertently allow unauthorized access even to a locked iPhone 4S, an Apple-related tech site reported. Macworld said Siri allows a user to send texts and emails while the iPhone 4S is locked, if one holds down the Home button to activate Siri and compose an email or text. "But Siri isn't tuned to a single voice, which means that Siri can be used by someone other than you to send an email or text from your phone," it said. It said a user can prevent Siri access on a locked iPhone by setting a passcode lock and turning off Siri access in the passcode lock settings. With these settings, nothing will happen if one holds down the Home button in a bid to activate Siri. "No fake resignation letters are sent to your boss, no demands for a divorce are texted to your spouse," Macworld said. However, Siri can be used once the passcode is entered on the phone. "You miss out on convenience, but for some people, that's worth sacrificing for a little bit of security," it said. Siri is one of the hottest new features on the newly released iPhone 4S, using voice recognition technology to serve as a personal assistant. — TJD, GMA News
