PAGASA: Expect isolated rain, thunderstorms in next 24 hours

Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms loom over parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday afternoon. PAGASA said extreme northern Luzon may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to a wind convergence affecting it. "Extreme Northern Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. It added that moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the northeast and southeast will prevail over extreme northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough. Light to moderate winds coming from the southeast to south will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas and coming from the east over Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate, PAGASA said. Earlier, PAGASA forecasters said they do not expect a new cyclone to enter or form in Philippine territory until at least the middle of this week. The next cyclone that may enter or form in Philippine territory will be codenamed "Sendong." — KBK, GMA News
