PAGASA: No sign yet of cyclone this week

There is no sign of any cyclone approaching the Philippines at least for now, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Monday. In a radio interview, PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said their data shows no indication of a weather disturbance that may affect the country for this week. "Sa data natin nakalap within this week maganda ang panahon (Our data so far shows the weather will be relatively fine within this week)," Aurelio told dzBB radio. PAGASA's Twitter account also indicated there is no cyclone for Monday. However, it said the country may experience rain showers and thunderstorms. "The Philippines will experience partly cloudy to cloudy (weather) with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms," it said. The country is still recovering from the effects of successive cyclones "Pedring" (Nesat), "Quiel" (Nalgae) and "Ramon" (Banyan). The cyclones have claimed over 100 lives. Last week, PAGASA forecasters indicated a new potential cyclone may form or enter Philippine territory within this week. "Wala tayong namamataan na namumuong sama ng panahon sa ating bansa (So far we have not seen any potential weather disturbance)," Aurelio said. — RSJ, GMA News
