PAGASA: Rain over NCR due to thunderstorm, not cyclone

The rain that fell over parts of Metro Manila Tuesday noon is from a thunderstorm and not a cyclone, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. On its Twitter account, PAGASA said a thunderstorm was developing over the Marikina-Quezon City area as of noon. PAGASA also maintained on its website that there is no cyclone within the Philippine area of responsibility as of Tuesday. Reports on dzBB radio indicated rain on parts of Manila and Quezon City. Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Connie Dadivas said parts of the country, including Metro Manila, can expect warm weather with isolated thunderstorms. Also, PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said northern Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, but the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. The country is still reeling from the effects of recent cyclones "Pedring" (Nesat), "Quiel" (Nalgae), and "Ramon" (Banyan). — RSJ, GMA News
