PAGASA warns fishermen vs big waves in north Luzon
State weather forecasters on Wednesday warned fishermen and operators of small seacraft against going out to sea in the northern Luzon due to strong winds and big waves there. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a 10:30 a.m. gale warning noting strong to gale force winds due to the northeasterly surface windflow. "Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves," it said. It also noted that northern Luzon seaboards may have scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms. Earlier, PAGASA had said a wind convergence may bring rain and thunderstorms to extreme northern Luzon. PAGASA said the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Also, it said moderate to strong winds blowing from the east and northeast will prevail over extreme northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the east over Visayas and Mindanao, PAGASA said. — KBK, GMA News
