DOLE sked of online job fairs announced

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Wednesday announced its online job fair schedule until the end of the year. By way of advice, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz urged job seekers to hone and upgrade their skills, saying that it is “the best way to successfully avail of the productive opportunities available in job fairs. The department’s online job portal may be accessed at http://www.phil-job.net/. Bureau of Local Employment Maria Criselda Sy added that the schedule of the job fairs are already posted on the portal. “BLE is making the schedule available to a wider range, and for this purpose, we encourage graduates and other jobseekers, as well as employers, to visit the Phil-JobNet for their job and skills matching needs," said Sy. DOLE also reported a significant increase in registration on the website after 200 students from Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro signed up. DOLE Regional Director Zenaida Angara said that they made particular efforts to make sure students understood the potential of the website. “We have explained to the students the power of the Phil-Jobnet as an engine of labor market information and job-skills matching, which will help them find a skills-matched job after graduation," Angara said. As of September this year, over 108,377 job vacancies have been posted by employers and licensed employment service providers in the website. Call center agents, customer service assistants, sales clerks, domestic helpers and laborers are the five top vacancies in the website.
