PAGASA: Rain threatens North, Central Luzon

Rain showers and thunderstorms loom over Northern and Central Luzon in the next 24 hours due to a wind convergence, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Thursday. PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong also said there is no sign of any cyclone or weather disturbance near Philippine territory at this time. "Sa ngayon wala tayong namamataang anumang bagyo o namumuong sama ng panahon na pwedeng umapekto sa ating bansa," Quitlong said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the weather system affecting the country at this time is the wind convergence that may bring rain to Northern and Central Luzon. In late September and early October, the country was pounded by cyclones "Pedring" (Nesat), "Quiel" (Nalgae), and "Ramon" (Banyan). PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added.— LBG, GMA News
