NDRRMC: 3 die, 200 hospitalized due to diarrhea in Sarangani


At least three people died from a diarrhea outbreak in Sarangani province in the last two weeks, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said late Wednesday. In a report posted on its website Wednesday afternoon, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at Tinoto village in Maasim town between Oct. 11 and 18. "Said incident was caused by contaminated water supply," it said. The NDRRMC said the outbreak affected 254 people, 200 of whom were hospitalized. Of those hospitalized, 51 were considered outpatients. It did not identify the three fatalities. The NDRRMC said provincial disaster management officials have conducted water analysis and drinking water sanitation, as well as an information drive. — LBG, GMA News
