What was Jobs' unfinished 'next product'?

The late Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs was working on the "next product" after the recently unveiled iPhone 4S when he died, showing he remained involved at Apple until the end. Softbank Chief Executive Masayoshi Son said Jobs was making phone calls about Apple’s unnamed “next product" the day before he died, PC Magazine reported. "I visited Apple for the announcement of the iPhone 4S [at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California]. When I was having a meeting with Tim Cook, he said, 'Oh Masa, sorry I have to quit our meeting.' I said, 'Where are you going?' He said, 'My boss is calling me.' That was the day of the announcement of the iPhone 4S. He said that Steve is calling me because he wants to talk about their next product. And the next day, he died," PC Mag quoted Son as saying. While he did not elaborate on the "next product" Jobs was working on, Son said he was "touched" by Jobs' passion and drive. "That's the kind of spirit a true entrepreneur would continue to have until they die. He was very sick, very ill. But the announcement of their newest product made him live longer. Physically he could have died much earlier. But his passion, his love for his own company and dream, about the next products, that made him energized," Son said. Enthusiast site AppleInsider said this story came to light after a financial analyst claimed Jobs was “intimately involved" in creating Apple’s 2012 iPhone. It said Ashok Kumar with Rodman & Renshaw claimed Jobs had input on everything from the device’s concept to final design, and claimed that the next-generation iPhone will have a slimmer profile and larger screen. "Jobs’s devotion to Apple, the company he founded, has been well documented. In August, when he stepped down as CEO, Jobs was said to have worked a full day at Apple’s headquarters on his final day as chief executive," it noted. — TJD, GMA News
