Google+ users post 3.4B photos

The 40 million users of Google's upcoming social network Google+ have posted at least 3.4 billion photos in the last 100 days, a Google executive disclosed. Google’s SVP of social Vic Gundotra revealed this at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco Wednesday, tech site Mashable reported. “Someone’s uploading those photos," Gundotra said, in response to a question whether there were any statistics that could prove people were actually using Google+. But Mashable noted the figure still pales in comparison with Facebook, which has roughly 100 billion photos in its archives. About six billion photos are being added every month to Facebook, Mashable added. Earlier this month, Google CEO Larry Page claimed that people are "flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate" as he said Google+ has "just passed the 40 million user mark." Google recently opened its Google+ to the public, removing the requirement to get an invite to join the social network. But Google+'s membership remains a tiny fraction of that of Facebook. Facebook, which started in 2004, presently claims to have 800 million users. — TJD, GMA News
