DepEd: Sem break starts Oct 26, classes resume Nov 3

There will be no classes on November 2 after all, as the Department of Education on Friday said classes in public elementary and high schools will resume November 3. In a post on its Twitter account, the DepEd cited its official calendar indicating classes will resume Nov. 3 while the semestral break starts Oct. 26. "According to DepEd 2011-2012 Official Calendar, classes in public schools will resume on Nov 3. Sembreak starts Oct 26," it said. On the other hand, it said private schools "have the discretion to schedule their own semestral breaks." Under DepEd Order 28 dated last March 22 calendar of activities indicated the resumption of classes is on Nov. 3. The DepEd supervises classes in the preschool, elementary and high school levels. Filipinos are expected to flock to the provinces in the coming weeks so they can spend All Saints' and All Souls' Days paying respects to their dearly departed. — RSJ, GMA News
