PAGASA: All Saints’, All Souls' Days seem cyclone-free

At least for now, state weather forecasters do not see any looming cyclone that may threaten Filipinos’ observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days this year. However, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Filipinos may still have to bring their umbrellas due to possible isolated rain showers. “Siguro hindi natin maiwasan ang isolated rainshowers although wala tayong bagyong namamataaan," PAGASA forecaster Nelson Dianela said in an interview on government-run dzRB radio. But Dianela indicated it is still too early to discount the possibility of a cyclone, adding PAGASA may issue a special forecast for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days within the coming week. For its part, Malacañang said the Philippine National Police (PNP) has started preparing for the occasion, including the yearly exodus to the provinces. In a separate interview, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said police will increase visibility and keep watch over entry and exit points of Metro Manila. “The entry and exit points will be secured by the PNP, kasama ang sementeryo sa siyudad na pinupuntahan. Tinataasan natin ang police visibility sa areas na ito," she said. — LBG, GMA News
