PAGASA: Isolated afternoon, evening rain, thunderstorms loom over PHL

Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms loom over the country Sunday afternoon or evening, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. PAGASA said this is due to a light to moderate northeasterly surface windflow, which it said is prevailing over Luzon. "The whole country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. Also, it said light to moderate winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas, and coming from the east over Mindanao. Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added. Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said the cool northeast winds (Amihan) are starting to be felt although they are not quite here yet. Quitlong said the winds from Mainland China are combining with winds from the Pacific Ocean to form a wind convergence. On the other hand, PAGASA forecaster Nelson Dianela said there is no sign of any cyclone or weather disturbance that may affect Filipinos' observation of All Saints' and All Souls' Days. Still, Dianela advised the public to bring umbrellas as isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are possible on those days. — LBG, GMA News
