Embassy brings relief goods to Pinoys affected by Thai floods

Philippine officials in Thailand brought relief goods over the weekend to some 70 Filipinos affected by the floods there. A team from the embassy brought individually packed relief goods to Filipino employees of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) displaced by the flooding. "School officials evacuated the group from the AIT campus ... and brought them to a hotel in Suthisan for temporary accommodation," the embassy said on its website Monday. The embassy team also briefly met with the group to assess their needs and how the Philippine government can best be of assistance to them. Deputy Chief of Mission Maria Teresa Taguiang, Consul General Edgar Badajos and Consul Randy Arquiza were part of the embassy team. Floods had displaced several people in Thailand in past weeks. The embassy earlier advised Filipinos affected by floods to tie white flags outside their homes if they need to be evacuated. It also said victims needing temporary shelter can stay at the embassy. — RSJ, GMA News
