MMDA starts imposing P500 fine on motorcycle lane violators

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) started fully enforcing on Monday the motorcycle lanes policy in two major thoroughfares in the metropolis. On its Twitter account, the MMDA said a P500 fine awaits motorcycle riders traveling outside the "blue lanes" along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City and Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in southern Metro Manila. "REMINDER: Motorcycle 'Blue' Lanes full implementation starts today. First lane in Macapagal, fourth lane in Commonwealth," the MMDA said on its Twitter account. The motorcycle blue lane along Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard that stretches between Pasay and Parañaque cities is the rightmost lane. On the other hand, along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, the motorcycle lane is the fourth lane. In southern Metro Manila, many MMDA enforcers wore jackets warning motorcycle riders against attempting to bribe them, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. Written on the jackets were "Zero Payola/Kotong/Lagay," indicating they would not let offenders off the hook for monetary consideration, the report said. - VVP, GMA News
