Comelec holds OAV registration training for 13 posts in HK

Some 30 participants from 13 Philippine foreign service posts in the Asia-Pacific region recently took a three-day training course supervised by the Commission on Elections to prepare for the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV). The Philippine Consulate General said the OAV registration process for the 2013 elections will begin on November 2. "The participants were trained on how to install the various software and peripherals needed as well as responding to the possible scenarios that they may face from registrants during the yearlong procedure," the consulate general was quoted in an article posted on the Department of Foreign Affairs on Monday. The training course was held from October 10 to 12, the same article said. It added hardware improvements such as the automatic fingerprint scanner, signature pad, and Web camera are expected to make the encoding process faster. It said the foreign service posts represented in the training included the Philippine Embassies in Beijing, Hanoi, Port Moresby, and Tokyo; and the Philippine Consulates General in Agana, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau, Osaka, Saipan, Shanghai, and Xiamen. Comelec Commissioner Armando Velasco led the Comelec delegation, which also included Chief of the Investigation and Prosecution section lawyer Jane Valeza and information technology specialist Rouie Peñalba. — RSJ, GMA News
