Pinay found dead in flooded Dublin apartment

A Filipino woman was found dead in a flooded basement apartment in Dublin, Ireland, a report of the Irish Examiner.com said on Tuesday. The victim, estimated to be in her 30s, was said to have drowned after a torrential rain hit the area. According to the Irish Examiner.com, the victim's body was found when water was pumped from the basement by the Dublin Fire Brigade. In a text message to GMA News Online Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) spokesperson Raul Hernandez verified the incident. Hernandez said, "According to our embassy in Dublin, investigation as to the cause of death is still ongoing. But initial indications are that she may have drowned due to sudden and unexpected flooding caused by unusually heavy rains." Hernandez said the victim was a caregiver working in Ireland. A massive clean-up operation is being carried out Dublin after the severe flooding. The Irish Examiner.com said more than "80 millimeters of rain fell in a number of hours" on Monday. - VVP, GMA News
