HTC Android users get 5GB Dropbox storage

Good news for users of Android smartphones made by Taiwan-based HTC: your phone now comes with 5 gigabytes of cloud storage via Dropbox. HTC made the announcement early Tuesday (Manila time) on its Facebook page, where it disclosed its recent partnership with Dropbox. "We’re happy to share the good news with you here, first. We recently partnered with Dropbox! So, now Dropbox will come pre-installed on all Android phones, giving you 5GB of storage!" it said. A separate article on tech site CNET said the Dropbox storage will be accessible via an app on the Android phone. But CNET also noted Dropbox typically provides online storage for a fee if the customer wants more than 2GB. On the other hand, a separate article on AndroidCentral.com said the cloud storage on Dropbox will be free. It added Dropbox had previously partnered with Sony Ericsson to bring preloaded Dropbox apps to Xperia owners, although no additional storage was offered on Sony Ericsson devices. "So far it's unclear which HTC legacy devices, if any, will be able to take advantage of the 5GB storage deal," it said. — TJD, GMA News
