Twitter gets Google's media liaison

Google's loss, Twitter's gain. Karen Wickre, a nine-year senior media liaison at the search giant, has hopped over to the micro-blogging site. "Yes, I've joined the Flock. Excited to be at Twitter HQ.Posting more soon!" she said in a tweet. Tech site The Next Web, which broke the story, quoted its sources as saying Wickre held a very senior PR position at Google for a long time. It said Wickre was the go-between for project managers and the media, and many at Google enjoyed working with her immensely. On the other hand, The Next Web said this was yet another shakeup for Twitter since it brought back Jack Dorsey as Chairman and saw VP of Engineering Mike Abbott leave. "Fortunately for Twitter, this addition is a positive one. Twitter has not dealt with the press much other than telling its history for magazines, and making some changes in management. It will be interesting to see what type of access at Twitter Wickre can give to media," it said. — TJD, GMA News
