PNoy thanks apl.de.ap for the construction of classrooms

President Benigno Aquino III has personally thanked Fil-Am singer Allan Pineda, also known as apl.de.ap of the American pop group Black Eyed Peas, for his efforts to improve the state of education in the Philippines and help in the construction of additional classrooms in the country. Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Tuesday that Aquino talked to Pineda during dinner Monday hosted by the President’s cousin, Rafael Lopa, head of the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation. “The President dropped by yesterday to personally extend his gratitude to Allan Pineda, apl.de.ap, for his APL Foundation which is in partnership with the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation for the construction of classrooms in the country," Lacierda said. Pineda is set to launch his education campaign, “We Can Be Anything," at the Black Eyed Peas concert on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Mall of Asia concert ground in Pasay City. President Aquino, however, will not be able to attend the concert “as he is attending to important matters of state," Lacierda said. — Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News
