UN tweetcon tackles women's role vs climate change

United Nations (UN) Climate Chief Christiana Figueres on Monday held a one-hour Twitter conference with participants from around the world to discuss the role of women in fighting climate change. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) invited users from across the globe to participate in the online discussion by tweeting their comments and questions with the hashtag #climatewomen. The virtual conference took place Monday, October 24 at 11 p.m. Philippine time. Several women —and men— joined in on the conversation by laying out the challenges, offering solutions, and describing their own efforts in addressing the worldwide climate problem. It is Figueres' second Twitter discussion among several planned for the future by the UNFCCC. The conference demonstrates how social media has rendered collaboration, regardless of the scope of the problem, virtually borderless.
