PAGASA: Hot mornings, rainy afternoons possible during Undas

Filipinos paying respects to their dearly departed on November 1 and 2 may have to bring their umbrellas to the cemeteries because mornings may be hot and afternoons or evenings may be rainy in those days. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) hinted Wednesday the weather conditions on All Saints' and All Souls' Days may be similar to those in past weeks. "Kung napapansin ninyo nung mga nakalipas na taon, pagpunta nyo sa sementeryo ganito ang pattern: sa bandang mainit sa bandang tanghali at sa bandang hapon may ulan," PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. She said that while the northeast winds (amihan) are beginning to be felt, the transition to this weather pattern is still ongoing. On the other hand, she said a shallow low-pressure area (SLPA) off Extreme Northern Luzon is too far to affect any part of the country. As of 2 a.m., the SLPA was estimated at 900 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon. "Maliit ang chance na maging bagyo ang SLPA pero patuloy nating mino-monitor ang kanyang development," she said. PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the whole country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. — LBG, GMA News
