Flood-hit Pinoys in Thailand urged to send missed calls to embassy

As Philippine officials anticipate the flooding problem in Thailand to reach its critical period on Thursday, they urged Filipinos in Bangkok and other flood-hit areas to send a missed call to the embassy if they need help. "If you're running short on your load at wala ng mabilhan ng load in your area, i-miss call niyo any of the embassy hotlines and we will call you back as soon as possible," the embassy said on its news release. The embassy hotline numbers are: 08-9926-5954 and 08-4360-8405. Thai science minister Plodprasop Suraswai had said stagnant flood water would remain for about one month, or one month and a half. The most critical period would be this week when the water level is high. The embassy also encouraged Filipino flood victims to store enough water for their needs. "Stock up on water, lots of water using every available container (tabo, balde, batya, etc.)," it said. Even bath tubs and washing machines not in use can be used as temporary water containers, the embassy suggested. It also said Filipinos should make sure their your cell phones are fully charged at all times. They should also place passports and other vital personal documents in a safe place. "Wrap them in sturdy plastic to keep them from getting wet," the embassy said. "Don't wait for the eleventh hour," it said. - VVP, GMA News
