'Gayuma,' 'Busong,' featured in Warsaw filmfest

The Philippine Embassy in Poland said two Filipino films — "Gayuma" and "Busong" — were featured in the 27th Warsaw Film Festival. In a news release, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the two films were among the movies shown from 59 countries from October 7 to 16 this year. The annual filmfest is accredited by the International Federation of Associations of Film Producers, which includes the prestigious film festivals in Cannes, Berlin and Venice. "Gayuma" by Alvin Yapon is a tale of love beyond social class, religious and superstitious beliefs. On the other hand, "Busong" by Auraeus Solito tells the story of an indigenous tribe in Palawan island, Philippines. Before competing for the Warsaw Film Festival, "Busong" was included in the Official Selection Cannes Directors' Fortnight. Filipino directors Jeffrey Jeturian and Auraeus Solito were included in the international jury. - VVP, GMA News
