Grandson of ex-VP Guingona falls 31 stories to death in Muntinlupa

(Updated 11:52 a.m.) A grandson of former Vice President Teofisto Guingona fell to his death from the 31st floor of a hotel in Muntinlupa City before dawn Thursday. Police are gathering leads on the death of Marc Guingona Lamb, 20, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported. Lamb fell from the 31st floor of the Vivere Suites Hotel in the Alabang-Filinvest area in Muntinlupa City and landed on the pavement, the report said. "I am devastated and brokenhearted at the untimely and accidental death of my beloved Marc. We are grateful for the outpouring of love, condolences and prayers from family and friends. We, Marc’s loving family, would appreciate to be allowed to grieve in private," Lamb's mother, Marie, said in a statement. For his part, the victim's uncle, Senator Teofisto Guingona III said: "I was informed that his death may have been brought about by personal concerns. We understand that Mark is young and may have been unable to bear burden of such concerns. The intensity of his pain is known only to him." A report on GMA News TV's News To Go said the victim, together with a close friend, was drinking beer at a shop on the 31st floor past 2 a.m. The report quoted the victim's friend as saying he went ahead to get a car at the basement where they were supposed to meet, adding that he was surprised to see his friend's body lying on the ground. Investigators are trying to determine if suicide or foul play caused the incident, the report said, adding that authorities will also investigate the owners of the shop and the building if enough security measures were in place during the incident. — LBG/RSJ, GMA News
