Four Pakistanis jailed for disabling Pinoy in UAE


A United Arab Emirates (UAE) court has sentenced four Pakistani workers to three years in jail for brutally beating a Filipino security guard of a construction site in Dubai to steal cables worth Dh40,500 (P477,320). According to a report of Gulf News, a Dubai court convicted Pakistanis who left the Filipino 85 percent permanently disabled. The report also cited court records as saying the Pakistani workers also stole from the Filipino a mobile phone plus Dh2500 (P29,464) and $450 in cash. The judge ordered the four Pakistanis - aged 22 to 28 - to be deported after serving their jail sentences. The judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days. Gulf News said three of the defendants confessed to stealing the electric cables but denied beating up the Filipino security guard, 24. The fourth defendant, denied any involvement in the incident. - VVP, GMA News
