Cop hurt in Cotabato City blast

A policeman was slightly injured when an improvised explosive device went off in front of the Public Attorney’s Office along Sinsuat Avenue in Cotabato City around 9:30 a.m. Friday, a police report said. Cotabato City police director Supt. Roberto Badian said the wounded cop was among his men assigned in the area as traffic police. A technician whose store is near the blast site said the blast was so powerful that it jolted commuters around the area. Initial police reports said the bomb could be made from a 60-mm mortar and was placed near Café Florencio, one of the busiest restaurants in the city. Badian said he has already alerted his men for possible future "bombing" incidents. The Cotabato blast came a day after a powerful bomb explosion rocked Zamboanga City, killing a bystander and injuring six others. — Malu Cadeliña Manar/LBG, GMA News
