MMDA: Number coding lifted from Oct 31 to Nov 2

The number coding scheme for vehicles in Metro Manila will be lifted during the long weekend and extend up to Nov. 2, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Friday afternoon. MMDA Traffic Discipline Office OIC Yves Gonzalez said even Las Piñas and Makati Cities, which do not always lift their number coding policy, will do so during this long weekend. "As per Mayor Binay, lifted na rin ang Number Coding in Makati [pati] on Nov 2. So Number Coding is lifted for the whole Metro Manila [from] Oct. 31 to Nov. 2," Gonzalez said in a post on his Twitter account. Gonzalez added MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino decided to extend the lifting of the number coding to Nov. 2. "Chairman Tolentino just announced that Number Coding is lifted also on Nov. 2," he said. Under the number coding scheme, vehicles are banned from major thoroughfares in Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., depending on the last number of their license plates. Oct. 31 falls on a Monday; Nov. 1 a Tuesday; and Nov. 2 a Wednesday. Had the coding scheme remained in force on those days, it would have banned vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 on Monday; 3 and 4 on Tuesday; and 5 and 6 on Wednesday. — LBG, GMA News
