MMDA lifts number coding Oct. 31 to Nov. 2

The vehicle number coding in Metro Manila is lifted during the long weekend to Nov. 2, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Friday. MMDA Traffic Discipline Office OIC Yves Gonzalez said even the cities of Las Piñas and Makati, which usually imposed the number coding schemes even on holidays, will do so this time around. "As per Mayor Binay, lifted na din Number Coding in Makati on Nov 2. So Number Coding (is) lifted (for the) whole Metro Manila (from) Oct. 31 (to) Nov. 2," Gonzalez said in a post on his Twitter account. "Chairman Francis Tolentino just announced that Number Coding is lifted also on Nov. 2," Gonzalez said. Under the number coding scheme, vehicles are banned from major thoroughfares in Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., depending on the license plate’s last digit. Oct. 31 falls on a Monday; Nov. 1 a Tuesday; and Nov. 2 a Wednesday. When in force, the coding scheme ban vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2 on Mondays, 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, and 5 and 6 on Wednesday. — VS, GMA News
