PAGASA: Wind patterns to bring rain to parts of PHL

A wind convergence and an inter-tropical convergence zone may bring rain to parts of the country, particularly over Northern and Central Luzon and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday. In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the wind convergence is affecting the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon while the ITCZ is affecting Mindanao. "The eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas. Last Friday, PAGASA hinted at hot weather in Metro Manila in the morning and rain in the afternoon or evening during the long weekend. In its special weather outlook for Undas (All Saints' and All Souls' Days), PAGASA said the amihan (northeast monsoon) may mean cooler temperatures in the eastern provinces of Luzon. PAGASA also said the Northeast Monsoon, characterized by a cold and relatively drier weather condition, is expected to last until the first half of March 2012. It said the Northeast Monsoon may bring strong to gale force winds that may affect Northern and Central Luzon. — LBG, GMA News
