5 killed, 38 hurt in Mt. Province road accident


(Updated 3:43 p.m.) Five people were killed while 38 were injured Saturday night after an Elf-type truck they were riding figured in a road accident in Mountain Province, police said Sunday. Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said police investigators are still looking into the incident, radio dzBB’s Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported. Cruz cited an initial information indicating the incident occurred on Halsema Highway in Mountain Province, involving an Elf-type truck with 43 people on board.

Superintendent Engelbert Soriano, spokesman for the Cordillera regional police, identified the fatalities as Efren Palag-ok Bocasan, Feliza Lagenio, Salvador Palag-ok, Caroline Lartec and Dominga Angdasan Police investigation teams are looking into what caused the accident, the report quoted Cruz as saying. — LBG, GMA News
