MMDA: Motorcycle lanes still in effect during Undas

While the number coding scheme has been suspended until Wednesday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority reminded motorcycle riders that there will be no lifting of the rule on motorcycle lanes. The MMDA will continue to keep watch over the lanes at Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City and Macapagal Boulevard in southern Metro Manila, radio dzBB reported early Monday. It added the MMDA will continue to be on full alert and flag down motorcycle riders who are caught not using the designated lanes. Violators face a fine of P500 per violation, while repeat offenders risk having their licenses suspended. MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino also reminded traffic personnel that their leaves are canceled until Undas is over. "May tao kami sa loob ng sementeryo ngayon (We will have personnel checking traffic inside some cemeteries)," Tolentino said in an interview on dwIZ radio. Meanwhile, the MMDA reiterated the number coding scheme has been lifted from Monday to Wednesday for Undas (All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days). "Number coding is lifted today until Wednesday (October 31 to Nov. 2, 2011)," it said in a post on its Twitter account. — RSJ, GMA News
