Robber caught after victimizing Pinoy in Saudi

A man robbed a Filipino in the Al-Hissy district north of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia early Sunday, but local police managed to arrest him shortly after the crime, Saudi-based news site Arab News reported early Monday. The Filipino had told police the suspect, who was driving a Toyota Camry, robbed him at about 6 a.m., Saudi-based news site Arab News reported early Monday. While the Arab News report did not name the Filipino victim, it described him as in his 30s. Police dispatched teams to cover all roads in the area and spotted the suspect along the Riyadh-Qassim Road in near Al-Hissy district, the report said. When they asked the suspect to pull up, he refused, prompting police to fire a warning shot in the air. But when the suspect still refused to yield, the police fired at and flattened the suspect’s car’s tires, the report added. The Arab News report said the suspect was wounded in the leg and was taken to a hospital. Police did not immediately identify the suspect but said they are checking if he was also linked to previous robberies. — RSJ, GMA News
