46 nabbed for drinking sprees, naked dancing in North Cemetery
Some 46 people were arrested at the North Cemetery in Manila for offenses that ranged from drinking sprees to naked dancing on tombs. A report of radio dzBB's Manny Vargas said eight homosexuals wearing only T-back bikinis, were caught dancing on top of tombs at around 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The police are preparing charges of public scandal against them. Among those who were arrested were five people, two of them minors aged 15 and 16, for taking part in a drinking spree and using marijuana. The police said they suspect some residents inside the cemeteries of selling liquor. âSigurado yan. Sa higpit sa entrance, imposibleng hindi namin makita," said the MPD official. Another report by dzBBâs Manny Vargas quoted police as saying they caught some visitors to the cemeteries bringing in three liters of âorange juice" that turned out to be mixed with gin. Peaceful despite hitches At the Manila South Cemetery, dzBBâs Rodil Vega reported police managed to defuse a potential rumble among some youth groups. However, MPD chief Senior Superintendent Alex Gutierrez maintained the atmosphere at the cemetery was âgenerally peaceful," according to a separate report on dwIZ radio. Meanwhile, dzBB reported many visitors left behind garbage at the cemeteries. At the North Cemetery, most of the trash included food containers left by visitors who paid respects to their dearly departed.
