Thirty-one Filipino artists in the United States will gather to raise funds for the arts in the 18th Annual Art Exhibit of the Society of Philippine American Artists (SPAA). The exhibit, curated by internationally-known watercolor artist and long-time professor Angelito David, will be held at the Philippine Center in New York City from Nov. 8 to Dec. 2. The art showcase is a fund-raising effort for SPAA, a group of Filipino and American visual artists in the United States founded by Manuel Rodriguez Sr., known as the âFather of Modern Philippine Printmaking." Aside from Rodriguez and David, the exhibit will also show the works of:
renowned photographer and Ani ng Dangal recipient Carlos L. Esguerra; social advocacy artist and Kababaihan sa Sining at Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan (KASIBULAN) founder Imelda Cajipe-Endaya; award-winning watercolor artist Oscar R. Dizon; painter and long-time oncologist Mars Custodio; rounded artist Julian Oteyza, son of Victor Oteyza, one of the pioneers of modern art in the Philippines; and former John D. Rockefeller III scholar Manuel âBoy" Rodriguez Jr. Completing the roster of respected Filipino-American artists are: Aurora Caparas-Corpuz; Lorina Capitulo; Fernando Catague; Cheryle Cranbourne; Cesar de los Santos; Tessie Dichupa; Angelito L. Espiritu; Manuel Gamboa; Christina SC Jeanjaquet; Nikos Kalamaras; Zny Laygo; Lenore RS Lim; Athena Magcase Lopez; Cynthia Marfori; Emilina M. Mercado; Chato Morando; Rene Ner; Mae Palaci; Godfrey C. Pinder; Patricia Anaia Price; Reynaldo Reyes; Ted de la Santa; and Art Zamora. The exhibit will be open Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., except for: Nov. 11, Friday; Nov. 24, Thursday; Nov. 25, Friday; and Nov. 30, Wednesday. - GMA News
