Many Pinoys flock back to Metro Manila after Undas break

After spending Undas (All Saints' and All Souls' Days) in the provinces, many Filipinos started flocking back to Metro Manila early Wednesday. From Northern and Central Luzon, motorists arrived aboard private vehicles via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported. Work was to resume Wednesday while classes will resume Thursday after the Undas break. The report quoted NLEX traffic controller Romeo Navarro as saying there was a "noticeable" increase in volume of traffic along NLEX as of 4 a.m. Wednesday. However, the report said traffic was still relatively fast-moving on the NLEX before dawn. Also, the report said traffic was fast-moving on the southbound part of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA), including the portions of Balintawak and Muñoz. On the other hand, relatively few Filipinos returned to Metro Manila via bus, according to a separate report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus. The report said there were still few who returned via the Araneta Bus Terminal in Quezon City, but said terminal authorities expect buses from Bicol and other provinces to start arriving within the day. It added police remained on alert at the bus terminals to secure the passengers as they return to Metro Manila. — LBG, GMA News
