NDRRMC: 1 dies in Pangasinan bus accident; 1 drowns in La Union


A five-year-old child was reported killed in a collision between an owner-type jeep and a passenger bus in Pangasinan Tuesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Wednesday. The NDRRMC initially identified the fatality as Sandy Roberto, 5. Injured in the incident was Elsa Roberto, 32. In a report posted on its website Wednesday, the NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 4:40 a.m. in Bani town. According to the NDRRMC, the jeep driven by one Emilito Maraya tipped over after it collided with a "Five Star" passenger bus. Police rushed the victims to the hospital but it was too late for doctors to save the child. Drowning Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy drowned in San Fernando in La Union Tuesday morning, the NDRRMC said in a separate report also on Wednesday. The NDRRMC said the incident occurred at 10 a.m. along the coastal waters of Pagdaraoan village in San Fernando City. It identified the victim as John Mark Pilag. "Said victim went swimming together with his brother and neighbors but was carried away by the strong current," it said. The NDRRMC said the boy was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. — LBG, GMA News
